Save 30% on Electricity Rates by Shifting Your Energy Use

The PeakSmart Savers program helps Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) residential customers lower their electricity bills by offering reduced energy rates throughout most of the year. In return, customers shift or reduce their energy use during called event days when CEA charges a premium for energy during on-peak hours. CEA may call event days when energy use and demand on the grid are forecasted to be high. PeakSmart provides rates that are 30% lower during non-peak hours than comparative rates!

This program is open to most residential CEA customers.

How it Works

  • Participants enjoy on-peak and off-peak electricity rates that are 30% lower than standard rates
  • During on-peak hours (4-9 p.m.), CEA may call an event up to 18 times per year. Energy used during on-peak periods of a Load Reduction Event will incur a Load Reduction Adder, $1.10 per kWh
  • Customers receive text or email alerts when an Event day is scheduled

FAQs

PeakSmart participants can lower their energy costs, receive alerts about high-demand periods and help reduce strain on the electrical grid.

CEA will notify participants via text and email alerts, and any updates will also be posted on social media (Facebook, Instagram and X).

If an event is called, energy usage during the On-Peak period (4-9 p.m.) will incur a Load Reduction Adder of $1.10 per kWh. To save money, participants are encouraged to reduce their energy consumption during these times.

For the first 12 months, CEA will compare participants’ charges with what would have been paid without PeakSmart. If the charges are higher, CEA will refund the difference via a check in the mail. Only customers who sign up for the program in 2025 will be eligible for Bill Protection.

If you are an active CEA residential customer on rates TOU-DR, TOU-DR-1, TOU DR-2, EV-TOU, EV-TOU-2 and EV-TOU-5 you may enroll in the PeakSmart Savers Program by contacting CEA’s customer service at (833) 232-3110. The account enrollment will be effective within two billing periods.

Yes, participants can unenroll, but to qualify for Bill Protection, they must complete the full 12-month period. Customers may request to be removed from the program by contacting CEA’s customer service at (833) 232-3110.

If participants are participating in the Solar Plus Connect program, participants are not eligible to unenroll.

For NEM 1.0 or 2.0 customers, the Load Reduction Adder only applies to net consumption. Solar Impact (Solar Billing Plan) customers will see the Load Reduction Adder applied to imported energy only.
